DOT/Non-DOT Drug Testing
Breath Alcohol Testing (EBT/BAT)
Evidential Breath Testing (EBT) is mandated by the federal government through the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), which requires that 10% of all commercial drivers be tested annually. Dr. Toro, a certified Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT) is trained to conduct breath tests in accordance with DOT's Alcohol Testing Procedures Rule: 49 CRF Part 40. The DOT requires that all BATs be trained to proficiency in DOT test procedures and have developed a model course for instruction.
The E.V.-30 Breath Analyzer ensures a deep lung sample. Its specially-designed electric pump provides extremely precise breath sampling, detecting breath alcohol levels between .000 and .400.
DOT/Non-Dot Drug Testing
It is federally mandated that 25% of ALL commercial drivers MUST be tested annually. DOT testing is required by the California Department of Motor Vehicles. California uses the federal physical qualification standards for commercial drivers, drivers who operate Class A, Class B, or Commercial Class C vehicles (those Class C vehicles carrying hazardous materials).
Some drivers must meet these physical qualification standards even though, in California, the type of vehicle they operate would not require a commercial driver license. Drivers of "commercial motor vehicles" as defined below must meet the federal physical qualification standards and have a valid medical certificate in their possession – whether or not California requires the driver to have a commercial driver license. Under federal regulations, commercial motor vehicle means any self-propelled or towed vehicle used on public highways in interstate commerce to transport passengers or property when:
The vehicle has a gross vehicle weight rating or gross combination weight rating of 10,001 pounds or more;
The vehicle is designed to transport more than 15 passengers including the driver;
The vehicle is used in the transportation of hazardous materials in a quantity requiring placarding under regulations issued by the Secretary under the Hazardous Materials Transportation Act (49 U.S.C. App. 1801-1813)
Only SAMHSA-approved laboratories are authorized to perform DOT analysis for drug testing. Dr. John Toro's chiropractic offices is SAMHSA-approved.
